Steve Strand has been performing professionally as a jobbing, touring and studio trumpet player since 1978 and is a member of the internationally renowned a capella jazz funk horn section, Hornheads.
He has performed and toured with artists such as Prince, Doc Severinsen Big Band, Cory Wong (Cory Wong and the Wongnotes), Larry Graham, Carmen Electra, Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion, Vulfpeck, Intoxicats, Lenny Kravitz, Franki Valli and the Four Seasons, Michael Bolton, Trisha Yearwood, Burt Bacharach, Gladys Knight, The Temptations, The Four Tops, B J Thomas, Tony Bennett, Wayne Newton and Johnny Mathis, and in pit show Orchestras at the Ordway, Orpheum, Carlton Celebrity room, and State theaters. Also performances with the Minnesota Orchestra, Minnesota Pops Orchestra, Minnesota Sinfonia and Lorie Line’s Pop Chamber Orchestra. Steve has also had appearances on MTV, MTV Europe, Stephen Colbert's "A Late Show" and the Arsenio Hall Show.
His recordings include Prince, Baby Face, Mandy Moore, Hornheads, Cory Wong, Dirty Loops, Dave Koz, Intoxicats, The Jonas Brothers, Chaka Kahn, Larry Graham (Sly and the Family Stone) and Carmen Electra. Commercial jingle projects include BMW, Cadillac, Holiday Inn Express, Target, CNN, Kare 11 News, WCCO 4 News, TNN Sports, ESPN, Minnesota Wild themes, Atlanta Thrashers themes, Minnesota Twins, Purina, Skippy Peanut Butter plus many others.
Steve is a Minnesota based artist, he is also a founding faculty member of Valley Music Academy in Stillwater, MN and has a studio of private trumpet students.
